Microneedling in Lehi, UT

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

If over-the-counter skin treatments haven’t given you the youthful, glowing skin you want, it may be time to consider nonsurgical treatments to rejuvenate the skin, like microneedling. Avanti Medical Center is happy to offer microneedling at their office in Lehi, UT. Microneedling uses multiple fine-gauge needles to safely and effectively make micro-injuries in the needed areas of the skin. These micro-injuries then trigger the natural production of elastin and collagen, two nutrients that contribute to the health and appearance of your complexion. Often combined with other skin treatments, like vitamin serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma), microneedling can help minimize pores, stretch marks, and scars. Schedule an appointment for a consultation at Avanti Medical Center to hear more about the benefits of microneedling and how to customize your procedure for your needs and goals.

OUR MICRONEEDLING TECHNIQUE

Collagen induction therapy with microneedling is done in a treatment room in about 30 – 60 minutes with local anesthesia or numbing cream if desired; however, patients generally feel mild or no pain and discomfort. The skin being treated will be cleaned before the handpiece is evenly passed over the desired areas. Once the microneedling process is complete, a topical treatment, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a serum with a vitamin infusion, can be applied so the nutrients can penetrate deeper into the skin. A moisturizer will be massaged in, along with UV protection because the treated skin will be sensitive after the procedure.

 MICRONEEDLING FAQ

How much does microneedling cost?
In your initial consultation, we will evaluate your skin and then create your unique plan. From there, we will talk about your costs and what to expect during the procedure. Avanti Medical Center frequently offers discounts on skin treatment packages, so be sure to ask about our current deals during your consultation.

What exactly is microneedling?
Collagen induction therapy or microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate your skin. A natural fibrous protein, collagen helps your skin stay supple, smooth, and firm. Eventually, your natural supply of collagen is reduced, and your skin becomes thin and less elastic. Microneedling creates tiny skin wounds. These micro-injuries prompt your skin to generate new skin cell growth and increase collagen production. Once healed, your skin looks brighter, firmer, and healthier.

Can I combine other treatments with microneedling?
In the process of microneedling, channels are created that help other treatments penetrate the deeper layers. This is why microneedling is frequently combined before other skin treatments, like vitamin-rich serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma). Microneedling with PRP is more commonly known as a Vampire Facial®. During your initial consultation, we will discuss what treatments would enhance your microneedling and which would most benefit your skin.

How many treatments are recommended for optimal results?
Typically, patients get 3 – 6 treatments to see optimal results. However, how many sessions you require will vary based on your skin’s condition and your goals. Microneedling can be safely done every 4 – 6 weeks. In your initial consultation, we will estimate the number of treatments you might want after assessing your skin and listening to your goals. Once your skin goals are reached, we recommend getting touch-up treatments about twice a year.

Is microneedling safe for everyone?
On the whole, microneedling is safe for all skin tones and types. Skin injuries created by microneedling are so minor there are rarely side effects after the treatment. Microneedling can be applied to most skin areas, including the face, arms, neck, thighs, chest, and lower legs. Microneedling is not recommended if you’ve been on Accutane in the last few months, plus if you have an open wound, active skin infection, or herpes simplex. In addition, you may not be able to get microneedling if you’re pregnant, nursing, or getting radiation therapy.
